So our little guy turned 2 Last month! It has been an amazing year. He talks a lot. He is very smart. He’s super fun, and his personality is very loving, caring, & active! To say the least, it’s been a blessing being his mom.

Okay, Let’s talk party details.

First, this party had me rethinking the whole party planning venture. I love styling parties. I live for it. However, this party had so much uncertainty.  If you know anything about New Orleans weather then you know that it is “unpredictable”! One day, it’s hot and you find yourself wearing flip flops and the next day you find yourself wearing a coat especially during the fall season! The weather is a mess down here. I planned Aj party to the tee. It was a football themed party, so we planned to have it outside by the lake. Well, a cold front decided to pass through on the day of AJ party. It was devastating. It was too windy. We couldn’t even set up. It was heart breaking to think I worked this hard to put on this fabulous party, and it wasn’t turning out as planned. So reluctantly, we decided to have it at our house that looked like a storm hit the inside and outside. lol However, we had great family & friends who pitched in and made this party happen. I want to take this time out to THANK my sister Cassie , sister n law Tajuana , brother n law Beanie and our amazing friends Smitty, KT, and Nate for doing his thing on the grill, and everybody else who helped us put together AJ Party.

Okay, now on to the pictures which were taken by me. However, next time I will be hiring a photographer. :-)

Okay we’ll start with the dessert table….

The cake got messed up from the move back to the house…. but the table still was a hit!

We had custom football  cookies by Curlyz Cookies. As always they were DELICIOUS. We had two cakes – football and a white cake with a cute little cake topper that I made to go on top of the cake.It will be added to our Etsy Shop. We got the football cake from my mom’s friend. She did an awesome job. We got the white cake from Chris Bakery. It tasted so good. Sr. made the cheese cakes shots which were gone in minutes,  so I didn’t even get to taste. We got the football lollipops from Oriental Trading. Everything else we picked up from the grocery store…

We made the dessert table awning. Alden made the frame. I made the cover. It will be available for rent. I also made the banners which will be available in the shop. We actually made dessert labels, but they never made their way to the table. We got the custom wooden spoons from a Etsy shop called pinklemonadeparty. The cake stands are custom made by me which is new venture that we will be offering to our customer in the Etsy Shop very soon! :-)

Birthday Boy! We got his shirt from a shop on Etsy called SimplySublimeBaby.

Next up the food table..

Okay, so we lost the banner for the menu some where during the move from the lake to our house. That’s why you’re thinking to yourself shouldn’t the word ” Menu” be centered. lol
All food labels were made by me. They of course will be made available in the shop.
Nate on the Grill!

Drink Station

The drink station was one of my favorite things at the party…. We forgot to add the lemon to the mini glass cupcake stand, so that’s why it was empty… :-)

Tables

We got the table cloths from LinenTableCloth.
I made the place mats out of fabric I got from Hancock. I got it on sell for a steal of a deal. I think we might be adding them to our shop. The tables are ours and will be available for rent. However, the chairs were rented from EventRental. For the centerpieces, I wanted something simple, so I got safety cones and sprayed them white and glued the pennant flags to sticks. I got the yellow pennant flags from Hobby Lobby. I created the straw flags. They will be added to the shop.

Party Favor

Custom shirts with numbers. I got the shirts from Dollar Tree & the numbers from Hobby Lobby. We also give away mini footballs pom poms and blow horns.

Field

The party theme was football, but I didn’t want the football theme to hit you in your face when you walked in. I like to take a subtle approach to styling.  I chose to focus mostly on the colors which were navy, yellow, white and brown. I wanted the party to have a modern preppy feel. I do feel I accomplished that.

I spent a lot of time putting all the little details into this party, and I am happy how it came together. There are so many things I would have done differently as far as execution. You live and you learn. .

In the end, the kids didn’t even seem to notice the missing details. They had a great time. I have a lot to learn about events. I will get better with time and practice. :-)
What do you think about the party? How did we do?
